Our branch in O'connor are clearing out some LED Downlight kits, note this is NOT a complete fixture, just the sum of parts which make a complete fixture ie:
Gimble with reflector + compatible transformer + the now superseded Philips 10W lamp.
A modular and more repairable solution essentially.
NOTE about the Philips 10W lamp, this lamp is a very good lamp, however now supersceded, and when we compared it against the current 7w which now replaces it, the 10w in this kit is still far superior, not sure why Philips did away with such a good lamp, as the new 7w lamps is lower lumen output, uglier (pokier design) and has a weird dark spot in the middle of the lamp.
The only draw back with the 10w lamp in this kit, is that it has an inbuilt fan which can make a very soft hum, so if you are in very quiet environments with low roofs, ie a study/library, with sensitive hearing, it may be an issue, other than that normal applications are fine, and tradies love it, and don't particularly like the new 7w.
This kit is more suited for people who:
- Want a modular/repairable/up gradable solution in the future(ie not a fit, forget and replace the whole unit scenario if one component fails), future proofing in that, you can upgrade to the new 7w or any other MR16 in the future as outputs/technology improves or just change colour temps/beam angles if you are not satisfied.
- Domestic/retail use
- Indoor use (Outdoors can get spiders stuck in the lamp failing the lamp! Yes it has happened before, which we fixed for a customer)
- Situations where dimmers are required* (Only recommended dimmers)

Excellent price for the Brightgreen DR700. Cheapest that I could find elsewhere is $47. Ecovantage claim RRP of $55.
Postage appears to be a flat rate of $13.95 for NSW/Vic/Qld/Tas/SA and $15.95 for WA & NT. Collection available from Collingwood.
These run from 12 volts, GU5.3 base (MR16) i.e. it's a retrofit replacement for tungsten-halogen downlight lamps.
Note: retrofit LEDs are generally not as good as complete kits/fittings. The DR700 is not the most efficient LED around nor the brightest (but it is reasonably good in both respects). It would be, or very close to being, the brightest direct replacement GU5.3 12V LED lamp though. Changeover is a DIY task in most cases, assuming it fits in your existing fittings and is compatible with your transformer.
